Philately Day with Perpustakan Al-Izhar

Okay, big secret (not really) I'm into stamps. And I am a volunteer at my school's library. I owe the library it was my only friend during 7th grade. So it's my way of saying thank you, being a volunteer there. It's like dedicating my weekend, for godsakes.

So ANYWAY, the library have this philately club, and that club (which members include almost everyone, no literally EVERYONE in the library and few kids from elementary), and I was... unofficially a helper in it. Erlangga and Faqih listed me as a member but I have never bought a stamp in my life before. Well I did, but I wasn't as much as a collector as they are. So because of that, I was dragged into the philately field trip which was today, on Saturday, after UAS, and at 7 o'clock in the morning!! Dddoooiii!!

I arrived 15 minutes late and already I was assigned as a mentor. I had no idea how to deal with kids. Honestly. I'm just good with my own small cousins. Not somebody else's kids. That I'm not good at. I was given 4 children to be taken care of. And I got 4 girls, which are very obedient and very mature. I have NO trouble with them at all. Those girls, Sharima, Anissa, Divva, and Dita, are the smartest kids in the bunch :D

Aside from Faqih, Erlangga, and I, there were also other mentors. From junior high. Reska, Nazhira, Izzati, and Nasha. We got a long juuuust fine. I got close to Reska coz he's a kpop addict too and he has a CUTE sister. Faqih and Erlangga of course bicker around at each other like always... Faqih kept singing:
"Sabana, Sahabat Penaa.... Sabana, Sahabat Penaa...." and DANCING TO IT, of course.. And he baby sat a kid named Avro, he'll make a good father! Papa Faqiiih~

I thought today was going to be oh SO BORING. But NO! I was wrong, I had the whole concept wrong. Being in philately is fun. I just notice how fun it is to search for a single stamp and putting it into your collection. I was outta my head, I've gone completely mad when I saw those people selling stamps. All I kept thinking about... Beijing Olympic 2008 Stamps. I'm a big fan of beijing olympic, I love the mascots, and everything about them I've been cravin for it's stamp. They didn't sell it bohooo. But I got a lot of others for VERY cheap prices :D I got Beauty & the Beast mint (which means new or in good condition) stamps. And also, Mickey Mouse in magazines and American monuments versions. I vowed that I will collect Disney stamps from now on! I'll never thought I'd say this. But I will definitely join Philately club from now on.
